SEEDPOD PUBLISHING needs a Marketing & Public Relations Intern
Internship Description:
Seedpod Publishing seeks an enthusiastic and confident publicity and marketing intern to work part-time (8-10 hours a week). We are looking for an intern to assist in the development of strong sponsorship relationships and in the promotion of our 2010 launch catalogue. The position provides an excellent opportunity to learn about digital publishing (eBooks) and gain valuable hands-on entrepreneurial experience in an emerging market.
About Us:
Seedpod Publishing is a startup digital publisher in Los Angeles preparing for a 2010 launch. We publish contemporary literary fiction by new and established authors. Be sure to become familiar with the flavor of Seedpod titles before applying.
Job Responsibilities:
• Research and develop new local sponsor relationships
• Research traditional and online media outlets
• Write press materials
• Contact media outlets for publicity opportunities
• Maintain database of customers and publicity contacts
• Attend weekly production meetings
• Knowledgeably and enthusiastically represent Seedpod (online, over the phone, and in person)
• Various administrative and/or production tasks as needed to support the role
Length of Internship:
Approximately 3 months beginning in February, 2010.
About You:
• BA or current college student.
• Strong interest publicity, promotion, and marketing.
• Initiative, self-starter who is creative and attentive to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A strong interest in entertainment, publishing, and the arts.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Good computer skills, including MS Office.
• Candidates must be based in Los Angeles, able to travel reliably within the city, and be authorized to work in the U.S.
The ideal candidate will be smart, versatile, and comfortable working independently to deadline. Interns will work virtually on their own computer and phone and attend weekly meetings–in person–in Los Angeles. Previous experience, though helpful, is not required. An interest in learning about digital publishing, entertainment, and/or startups is appreciated.

Compensation:
